Seventy percent of the earth’s surface is covered by water, 2.5% is fresh and a scant 0.007% is drinkable. A scarce commodity that we all need, to which, unfortunately, 2 billion people do not have access.
One of the goals of the 2030 agenda is to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water. In this article we are going to give an example of what would happen if we all saved water in Spain.
Waisense a small step for us, a global change
Waisense water-saving technology not only provides convenience and comfort. It saves on average 800 liters of water per person per month. That’s 9,600 liters of drinking water per year.
Making several calculations if all homes in Spain were to use Waisense technology, 451,200,000,000,000 liters of water would be saved annually. In order to better understand the amount we are talking about and the change it implies, we will now compare it with more visualizable data:
- 180,480 Olympic-sized pools (each Olympic-sized pool has 2.5 million liters).
- The equivalent of what we consume in 72 days in Spanish households
- The entire annual consumption of Belgium and there would still be 49,316,750,000 liters of water (or 19,726 Olympic swimming pools) left over.
- In developing countries, the daily water consumption per person is 25 liters per day. Therefore, water savings would be equivalent to the annual consumption of 49 million people.
These huge figures just show the impact of the use of water-saving technology in Spain. But what would happen if we all saved water?
We are just a few steps away from changing the world. You can learn about water-saving technology here.
